| Janice
Perry focusses her internationally acclaimed social satire skills on western
spiritual tradition in HOLY SH*T! Stories from Heaven and Hell
and finds miracles in the midst of modern
life.Janice's work is a masterful fusion of playful, intelligent monologues, inventive costumes, wild gestures and soaring vocals, powered by provocative text and physical comedy. Janice informs, delights and speaks to the concerns of the audience, regardless of their social, political, sexual or cultural identification. This irreverent evening includes the birth of Aphrodite, a deconstruction of the lives of St. Francis, St. Katharine, and Joan of Arc (every girl's favorite Saint, featured in a 'Broadway Musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber'), a commentary on the Flagellants, a small miracle, and a surprising seduction scene featuring Tonto and the Lone Ranger. My work is comedy, a universal language. Part of what makes my work unique is my ability to connect well with the audience. I use costumes, movement, music and lighting to communicate challenging ideas and I love to play with language. Sometimes, at the end of the show, someone will come up to me and say 'I never saw anything like this in my life. You made me look at these concepts in a new way and I haven't laughed so hard in years.'. It is remarkable to feel that I am able to transmit my ideas to so many different kinds of people. Performance is a state of grace. - Janice Perry ![]() Masterful Showmanship from Top to Bottom - perfect ! - Cologne Stadt Anzeiger Immense Virtuosity - Osnabrücker Zeitung Incomparable Mimicry - taz Hamburg A complete work of Art - Frankfurter Rundschau Miss her at your peril - The Independent, London |
